The start of my self-publishing journey

After several months of writing, rewriting, and deciding which poems to include, I finally finished my poetry book a day after my birthday. I was excited and nervous at the same time because I have never published fiction before. I used to do academic and consultancy work so I am definitely not new to writing.

I have found academic writing to be remarkably different from fiction writing especially in terms of the level of creative freedom. While I enjoyed my time in academia as a researcher and managed to explore and write about topics I was interested in, I have to say I am absolutely loving writing fiction. It is not easy, of course. Writing anything is never easy. It requires a lot of work, energy, time, focus, and patience. But I love to write so I guess you'll see and hear more from me in the coming days, weeks, months, and years (fingers crossed).
